The Ajax Relay Jeweller is a wireless dry contact relay for remotely controlling powered devices and appliances through the Ajax app and automation scenarios. With high load ratings, pulse and bistable modes, encrypted Jeweller communication and a tiny footprint, it lets you integrate lighting, gates, locks and other equipment into your Ajax system.
Ajax Relay Jeweller Wireless Dry Contact Relay for Appliance Control
The Ajax Relay Jeweller (model RL.Y.J) is a wireless dry contact relay with a potential-free output, used to remotely switch and control powered devices such as lighting, gates, garage doors, electric locks and other appliances. It is operated manually from the Ajax app or automatically through scenarios based on arming, schedules, alarms or environmental conditions.
Its compact size allows it to be built into electrical enclosures and appliance housings, extending Ajax smart-home and automation control to almost any powered equipment.
Wireless Appliance Control
The relay provides a potential-free (dry contact) output that can be switched on and off remotely, allowing you to control connected devices from anywhere via the Ajax app. It operates in pulse or bistable modes with a configurable contact state (normally open or normally closed).
High Load Ratings
The relay handles substantial loads: up to 13 A at 110–230 V~ and up to 5 A at 24 V⎓ for resistive loads, making it suitable for a wide range of household and commercial equipment. Built-in voltage and temperature protection automatically switch the relay off outside safe limits.
Automation Scenarios
The relay can be triggered by a wide range of automation scenarios — by arming or disarming, schedule, alarm, temperature, humidity or CO₂ level, or from an Ajax Button or LightSwitch — enabling powerful smart-home and security automation.
External Power Required
The relay is powered from an external 7–24 V⎓ supply and does not itself supply power to connected devices. Adjustable pulse duration from 0.5 to 255 seconds gives precise control over momentary actions such as opening a gate.
Secure Jeweller Communication
The relay communicates with the Ajax hub over the encrypted, two-way Jeweller protocol at a range of up to 1,000 metres in open space, with frequency hopping and block encryption.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS (FAQs)
What is the Ajax Relay Jeweller used for?
It is a wireless dry contact relay used to remotely switch and control powered devices such as lighting, gates, locks and appliances through the Ajax app and automation scenarios.
Does the relay supply power to connected devices?
No. The relay provides a potential-free (dry contact) output and does not supply power itself. It requires an external 7–24 V power supply to operate and switches the connected circuit.
What loads can it handle?
It handles up to 13 A at 110–230 V~ and up to 5 A at 24 V⎓ for resistive loads, with built-in voltage and temperature protection that switches it off outside safe limits.
What is the difference between pulse and bistable modes?
In pulse mode the relay closes the contact for a set duration (0.5–255 s) — ideal for opening a gate. In bistable mode it stays on or off until switched again — ideal for lighting.
Can it be triggered automatically?
Yes. It supports automation scenarios by arming/disarming, schedule, alarm, temperature, humidity or CO₂ level, and from an Ajax Button or LightSwitch.
Can it be used outdoors?
It carries an IP20 rating and is suitable for outdoor use only when installed inside a hermetically sealed enclosure.
