HiLook DVR-208Q-M1(E) is an 8-channel hybrid digital video recorder supporting analogue cameras up to 5MP 3K resolution alongside up to 12 IP cameras, with deep learning-based Motion Detection 2.0, H.265+ video compression and Audio over Coax built in. Designed for small to medium CCTV installations, it provides intelligent human and vehicle detection on all analogue channels while keeping storage and bandwidth requirements low.
HiLook DVR-208Q-M1(E) 8-Channel 5MP 3K Hybrid DVR with Motion Detection 2.0 and Audio over Coax
The HiLook DVR-208Q-M1(E) is a compact 1U hybrid digital video recorder from HiLook by Hikvision, offering eight analogue BNC inputs alongside expandable IP camera support. It accepts analogue cameras in HDTVI, AHD, HDCVI and CVBS formats at resolutions up to 3K (2960 × 1665) and 5MP (2560 × 1944), and simultaneously supports up to 4 IP channels by default — expandable to 12 IP channels in Enhanced IP mode when analogue channels are not in use.
The (E) variant includes Audio over Coax (AoC) support on all 8 analogue channels, allowing compatible cameras to transmit audio via the existing coaxial cable without the need for separate audio cabling — reducing installation complexity and cost.
Deep Learning-Based Motion Detection 2.0
Motion Detection 2.0 is enabled by default on all analogue channels. Using deep learning algorithms, the DVR classifies detected movement as either a human or a vehicle, filtering out common sources of false alarms such as leaves, shadows, animals and lighting changes.
Alarm notifications and recording triggers respond to genuine security events rather than environmental movement. Quick search by object or event type is also supported, allowing footage to be reviewed efficiently by filtering for human or vehicle events rather than scrubbing through continuous recordings.
H.265 Pro+ Video Compression
The DVR supports H.265 Pro+, H.265 Pro, H.265, H.264+ and H.264 compression standards. H.265 Pro+ can reduce storage space and bandwidth requirements by up to 75% compared to standard H.264, allowing longer recording periods on the same hard drive capacity and reducing network load.
Hybrid Analogue and IP Inputs
The DVR provides flexible input options for mixed camera installations:
-
8 × analogue BNC inputs supporting HDTVI, AHD, HDCVI and CVBS cameras with plug-and-play auto-detection
- HDTVI up to 3K@20fps, 5MP@20fps, 4MP@30fps, 1080p@30fps and 720p@30fps
- AHD and HDCVI up to 5MP@20fps, 4MP@30fps, 1080p@30fps
-
2 IP channels standard (expandable to 10-ch), supporting cameras up to 6MP via H.265+/H.265/H.264+/H.264
-
Enhanced IP mode: 4 IP channels expandable to 12-ch when analogue channels are disabled
Audio over Coax (AoC)
AoC support on all 8 analogue channels allows compatible cameras to transmit audio via existing coaxial cable, eliminating dedicated audio runs. A separate RCA audio input and output are also provided for non-AoC or dedicated microphone setups. Two-way audio is supported using the first audio input.
Display and Playback
Simultaneous HDMI and VGA outputs both support resolutions up to 1920 × 1080 at 60Hz. Synchronous 8-channel playback is supported, with smart event search by human or vehicle detection event type available via the local interface.
Storage
One SATA interface supports a single hard drive up to 10TB. A hard drive is not included and must be purchased separately. Standard 3.5" surveillance-grade HDDs are compatible.
Networking and Remote Access
A single RJ45 10M/100M Ethernet interface with 96 Mbps total bandwidth connects the DVR to the network. Wi-Fi is supported via a USB Wi-Fi dongle (not included). Up to 64 simultaneous remote connections are supported. Remote viewing is available via the HiLookVision app (iOS and Android) and iVMS-4200 PC client. Supported protocols include TCP/IP, PPPoE, DHCP, DNS, DDNS, NTP, SADP, HTTPS and ONVIF.
Compact 1U Form Factor
At 265 × 225 × 48 mm and under 1 kg without a hard drive, the DVR is suited to desktop placement or installation in small equipment cabinets. Power is supplied via a 12V DC adaptor with consumption of up to 12W without an HDD installed.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS (FAQs)
What is the HiLook DVR-208Q-M1(E) used for?
It is an 8-channel hybrid DVR for small to medium CCTV installations. It accepts HDTVI, AHD, HDCVI and CVBS analogue cameras up to 5MP/3K resolution alongside up to 12 IP cameras, with intelligent Motion Detection 2.0 and Audio over Coax on all 8 channels.
What does the "(E)" mean?
The "(E)" indicates this model includes Audio over Coax (AoC) support, allowing audio to be carried over the existing coaxial cable from compatible cameras — no separate audio wiring required.
Does the DVR include a hard drive?
No. One SATA interface supports a single HDD up to 10TB. A surveillance-grade hard drive must be purchased and installed separately.
How many IP cameras can be connected?
By default, up to 2 IP channels (expandable to 10-ch) alongside analogue cameras. In Enhanced IP mode with analogue disabled, up to 12 IP cameras up to 6MP are supported.
What is Motion Detection 2.0?
Motion Detection 2.0 uses deep learning to classify movement as human, vehicle or other. Notifications trigger only on human or vehicle detections, significantly reducing false alarms from animals, leaves, shadows and lighting changes. It is active by default on all analogue channels.
Does it support remote viewing?
Yes — via the HiLookVision app (iOS and Android) and iVMS-4200 (Windows/macOS), with up to 64 simultaneous remote connections supported.
Does it support Wi-Fi?
Not natively. A compatible USB Wi-Fi dongle can be connected to one of the rear USB 2.0 ports (dongle not included).
What analogue camera formats does it support?
HDTVI, AHD, HDCVI and CVBS. The DVR auto-detects the connected camera format — no manual selection is needed.
